The present petition has been filed under Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (for short-'BNSS') for quashing of FIR No.181 dated 31.12.2023 under Sections 452/324/148/149 of IPC registered at Police Station Bhikhiwind, Tehsil Patti, District Tarn Taran, Punjab and all the subsequent proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise dated 10.03.2025 (Annexure P-2).

2.

3.

Mr. Amandeep Singh Samra, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. Learned State counsel states that no other FIR has been registered against the petitioners and they have no known criminal antecedents.

4.

CRM-M-18882-2025 -2He confirms the factum of the compromise having been effected between the parties and states that respondent No. 2 has no objection to the quashing of the FIR in question.

5.

In that view of the matter, even if this case is taken to its logical conclusion, it would only be an exercise in futility as the parties have already settled their differences. Therefore, no purpose would be served in wasting the time and resources of the State in pursuing this case to its pre-ordained end. It would, therefore, be better to give a quietus to the issue at this stage. 6.

Accordingly, the petition is allowed and FIR No.181 dated 31.12.2023 under Sections 452/324/148/149 of IPC registered at Police Station Bhikhiwind, Tehsil Patti, District Tarn Taran, Punjab and all the subsequent proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise dated 10.03.2025 (Annexure P-2) shall stand quashed.
