SURINDER GUPTA, J.(Oral) Report of the Mediator has been received. The petitioners had a talk with parents of petitioner No. 1 but no amicable solution could be found. Learned counsel for petitioners submits that both the petitioners are major and have entered into matrimonial alliance against the wishes of parents and other relatives of petitioner No. 1, who are causing threat to their lives and liberty.

Without expressing any opinion on merits of the case, this petition is disposed of with direction to Senior Superintendent of Police, Kapurthala to look into the representation (Annexure P-5) and take appropriate action in accordance with law.

However, it is made clear that this order will have no effect on the validity of alleged marriage of the petitioners or on any other civil or criminal proceedings instituted against them.
