NARESH KUMAR SANGHI, J (Oral) Prayer in this petition, filed under Section 482, Cr.P.C., is for the issuance of directions to respondent Nos. 2 and 3 to protect lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondent Nos. 4 to 8. The petitioners contend that they being major, have solemnized their marriage in accordance with law. They further submit that respondent Nos. 4 to 8 are not accepting their marriage and adamant to separate them from each other by resorting to illegal means. They further submit that in view of the

imminent danger to their lives and liberty, they have already moved a representation (Annexure P-5) before respondent No.2/ Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana.

The petitioners also submitted that the relatives and a number of persons from the side of petitioner No. 1, Navdeep Kaur, are present in and outside the Court premises and they (petitioners) have imminent danger to their lives, inasmuch as, respondent Nos. 4 and 8 have tried to take away petitioner No. 1 forcibly. A prayer has been made by the petitioners to send them to the Protection Home, Sector 19, Chandigarh, by providing police protection.

Keeping in view the seriousness of the matter but without going into the validity of the marriage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2/Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, to take action as warranted by law on the representation moved by the petitioners and in the meantime to issue necessary orders to ensure that no harm is caused to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondent Nos. 4 to 8.

The Station House Officer, Police Station, Sector 3, Chandigarh, is directed to arrange and provide police protection

to the petitioners and send them to the Protection Home, Sector 19, Chandigarh, for three days.
