This petition has been filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C. praying for quashing of FIR No.195 dated 31.10.2017 (Annexure-P.1) registered for the offences under Section 392 IPC and (Section 395 IPC, which was added later on) at Police Station Division No.3, Jalandhar qua the petitioner only and the order dated 17.12.2018 (Annexure-P.2) declaring him proclaimed offender on the basis of compromise dated 16.4.2019 (Annexure-P.3) as well as all subsequent proceedings.

I have heard learned counsel for the petitioner and have gone through the record.

I have gone through the FIR. A perusal of the FIR shows that on the pistol point two accused snatched `57,000/-from the pocket of the complainant. It is a case under Sections 392 and 395 IPC. In Gian Singh v. State of Punjab and another, 2012 (4) RCR (Cr.) 543, the Hon'ble Supreme Court has held that there should not be any compromise for quashing the HARPAL SINGH PARMAR 2019.05.01 17:05 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Chandigarh

Cr. Misc. No.M-19290 of 2019 (O&M) [2] FIR in heinous and serious offences of mental depravity or offences like murder, rape, dacoity, etc. These offences cannot be fittingly quashed even though the victim or victim's family and the offender have settled the dispute. Such offences are not private in nature and have serious impact on society.

Keeping in view the nature and gravity of the offences, I do not find any ground in this case where the FIR should be quashed on the basis of compromise.

Therefore, finding no merit in this petition, the same is dismissed.
