In deference to the directions issued by this Court in CWP No. 26758 of 2018, titled as Hakam Singh versus State of Punjab and others, the Government of Punjab through the Department of Local Government, issued notification for the purpose of adjudication of issue of compensation on account of death/injury suffered by the private individuals caused by stray animals. As per notification dated 13.6.2023, the Animal Attack/Accident Compensation Committee has been constituted which, according to the notification, comprises of the following members:- "(2) The Animal Attack/Accident Compensation Committee shall consist of following Officers:- (i)Deputy Commissioner (Chairman) (ii)Additional Deputy Commissioner (Member) (Urban Development/General) (iii)Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) (Member) (iv)Superintendent of Police, Traffic (Member) (v)District Transport Officer (Member) DALBIR SINGH TIWANA 2025.04.09 09:38 I attest the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment Chandigarh

In the instant petition, petitioner seeks direction upon the respondents to pay the compensation on account of death of wife of the petitioner, and unborn baby, as she was pregnant, at the time of accident, involving stray animal. Learned counsel for the petitioner fairly concedes that the petitioner has not approached the Committee (supra), therefore, the petitioner may be granted the liberty to approach the Committee (supra), for the redressal of his grievance as raised through the instant petition. 3.

In view of the aforesaid, the petitioner is relegated to approach the Committee (supra). In case the petitioner approaches the Committee concerned and files an apt motion, within a period of one month from today, the latter shall decide the same within three months thereafter. 4.

Disposed of, accordingly.
