SUVIR SEHGAL, J. (Oral) The Court has been convened through video conferencing due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Instant petition has been filed for issuance of direction to official respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of private respondents No.4 to 8 and for further directing the official respondents not to allow the private respondents to interfere in the life and liberty of the petitioners. Counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner No.1 was married to respondent No.4 in the year 2013 and three children were born out of the wedlock. However, from the very beginning of her marital life, she was harassed and ill-treated by her husband and his relationsrespondents No.5 to 8. He submits that husband of petitioner No.1 is a drugaddict and has been physically assaulting her. CRWP No.5952 of 2021 {2} living with a close family relation. Despite repeated attempts by her family members, no re-conciliation could be effected between the couple. Counsel submits that before approaching this Court, petitioner No.1 has submitted a representation (Annexure P-2) to the official respondents which has not yielded any result. Counsel submits that the petitioners would be satisfied in case a direction is issued to the concerned respondent to look into the representation (Annexure P-2).

I have considered the submissions.

Without adverting to the merits of the petitioners' allegations at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to Senior Superintendent of Police, Ferozepur-respondent No.2 to consider the representation (Annexure P-2) and thereafter, to take appropriate steps as warranted, in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is any imminent threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners, then it be ensured that no harm is caused to the petitioners.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of representation, Annexure P-2 be sent to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ferozepur, respondent No.2 to enable him to do the needful expeditiously.
