**** VINOD S. BHARDWAJ, J. (ORAL) The petitioner namely Baljinder Kaur has approached this Court under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for seeking protection of her life and personal liberty from private respondents No.4 and 5. Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that the petitioner is major and wants to get married with the boy of her own choice. However, this is not acceptable to the private respondents and as a result thereof, the private respondents are threatening the petitioner. A representation dated 30.03.2026 (Annexure P-3) against the threat extended at the hands of the private respondents already stands submitted by the petitioner to the Senior Superintendent of Police, District Mansa, Punjab.
The petitioner apprehends threat to her life and claims that there is a constant danger of her being implicated in a false case. Notice of motion restricted to respondents No.1 to 3 only. Pursuant to supply of advance copy, Dr. Savi Nagpal, AAG, Punjab, who is present in the Court, accepts notice on behalf of respondents SONIA BURA 2026.04.

Learned State counsel has no objection if appropriate direction for providing requisite protection to the petitioner is given. As such, the petition is disposed of with directions to respondent No.3- Station House Officer, Police Station Bareta, Tehsil Budhlada District Mansa to look into the grievances of the petitioner as set out in the petition and also expressed in the representation dated 30.03.2026 (Annexure P-3) and take appropriate action for protection of her life and liberty as may be warranted by the circumstances.
However, it is clarified that in case any criminal case has been/is registered against the petitioner, nothing in this order shall be construed as a bar for taking appropriate action by the police authorities in respect thereof in accordance with law.
The Registry is directed to send a copy of this order along with copy of the petition and above-said representation to respondent No.3-Station House Officer, Police Station Bareta, Tehsil Budhlada District Mansa, for requisite compliance.
The petition is disposed of.
