&'( Heard learned counsel for the rival parties on the application for grant of regular bail in case FIR No. 69 dated 16.04.2013 under Section 22 of the NDPS Act and sections 420, 467, 468, 471 of the Indian Penal Code, P.S. Fatehgarh Sahib to the applicant2petitioner Kulvir Singh. Learned counsel for the applicant2petitioner vehemently contended that he has been in jail since five years and the present offence was fastened upon him while he was in custody in some other case. Learned counsel for the State on instructions from Mr. Amarjit Singh, ASI submits that the trial is completed and it is only fixed for defence evidence. In our opinion, if the case is fixed for defence evidence, there is no point in granting regular bail to the petitioner. In that view of the matter, we think it is for the petitioner to cooperate in the trial and furnish defence evidence if he wants as expeditiously as possible. Let the trial be completed expeditiously preferably within a period of six weeks from today.

With these observations, the application for grant of regular bail to the applicant2petitioner Kulvir Singh stands dismissed.
