The petitioners seek the quashing of FIR No.79 dated 9.3.2010 u/s 384/385/420/506 IPC registered at P.S. Faridabad Kotwali at the instance of respondent No.2 alleging that the petitioners blackmailed him with threats for publishing fake articles in their newspaper pertaining to the hotels of the complainant, causing monetary loss to the complainant. The matter has been compromised. In this context, the parties were directed to appear before the Illaqa Magistrate, Faridabad and get their statements recorded regarding matter having been compromised. Report of JMIC, Faridabad has been received to the effect that the matter has been compromised between the parties voluntarily. Following the Full Bench judgment of this Court in Kulwinder Singh and ors vs. State of Punjab and anr 2007(3) RCR (Cr.) 1052, I do not find any reason not to quash the FIR.

The petition is allowed, the above said FIR and all the criminal proceedings emanating therefrom are hereby quashed on the basis of compromise, subject to petitioners depositing a total sum of Rs.10,000/- with the Punjab State Legal Authority, within a period of one month.
