1. The petitioners aged 66 and 62 years respectively seek issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.6 and 7.

2. Learned counsel submits that son of the petitioners had married daughter of respondent No.6 against the wishes of her parents and after marriage they proceeded to Canada. It has been submitted that subsequently however, they could not pull-on together and their marriage was dissolved in Canada. It has been submitted that ever since the marriage of petitioners' son with daughter of respondent No.6, they have been harassing the petitioners. Subsequently, when wife of respondent No.6 committed suicide, then respondents No.6 and 7 put the blame on the petitioners and involved them Pankaj Kakkar 2024.07.23 17:31 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

CRWP-5968-2021 (O&M) ( 2 ) falsely in FIR lodged under Section 306 IPC. It has further been submitted that the petitioners have also been involved in another FIR registered for offence under Section 408 IPC as well.

3. Learned counsel submitted that respondents No.6 and 7 had been serving Punjab Police and thus while exercising influence have been issuing threats to the petitioners even when they go to the Courts to attend the proceedings of the trial pending against them.

4. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners, but without commenting anything as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the same is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.4-Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur to ensure that the petitioners are not harassed in any manner by respondents No.6 and 7. In case, it is found that respondent No.7 who is serving as a Constable in the Punjab Police has harassed the petitioners in any manner, it shall be open to the petitioners to make a complaint as regards his conduct to respondent No.2-Director General of Police, Punjab who shall take suitable action as may be warranted against him.

5. A copy of this order be sent to respondents No.2, 3 and 4 for necessary compliance.
