The petitioner has approached this Court seeking issuance of direction to respondents No.2 to 5 to protect her life and liberty as she apprehends threat to the same at the hands of her parents and her uncle i.e. respondents No.6 to 8, who are residents of district Roopnagar. 2.
Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that she is aged about 27 years and is mature enough to take care of herself and that she is welleducated and has done M.Sc. Physics and has also cleared Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) and Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and wishes to pursue her career and for the said purpose she has been residing in Chandigarh where she is also working. However, respondents No.6 to 8, who are her parents are bent upon forcibly marrying her against her GAURAV SOROT 2020.07.24 13:59 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner and without expressing anything on merits of the case, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondents No.2 & 4 to look into the matter and in case, the allegations are found to be well-founded then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest. It is also made clear that in case the petitioner moves any application to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Roopnagar, the same shall be looked into and disposed of in accordance with law.
