******* KARAMJIT SINGH, J.(Oral) Petitioners are praying for direction to respondent No.2 to provide protection to their life and liberty from the hands of private respondents No.4 to 7.

In the petition, it has been stated that both the petitioners are into live-in-relationship which has been opposed by private respondents No.4 to 7, who are related to petitioner No.1. 3.

Counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner No.1 a girl aged about 24 years and petitioner No.2 a boy aged about 19 years are living together against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 7. It is further submitted that petitioners are unmarried and are willing to perform marriage as and when petitioner No.2 will attain marriageable age of 21 years. Counsel for the petitioners further submits that respondents No.4 to 7 who are against the relationship of petitioners are extending threats to cause harm to the petitioners and in this regard, petitioners gave representation dated 24.04.2024(Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 i.e. Priyanka Thakur 2024.04.29 18:13 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka but the police authorities have failed to take any action.

Mr. Jasjeet Singh Dhaliwal, AAG, Punjab appearing for the official respondents submits that in case any such representation is pending, the concerned authority will look into the matter and take action in accordance with law.

In view of above, without going into the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka to consider representation dated 24.04.2024(Annexure P-3) and to take action if so warranted in accordance with law in case there is any threat perception to the petitioners. 6.

However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the relationship of the petitioners. It is also made clear that respondents No.4 to 7 are at liberty to avail appropriate remedy available to them under law against the petitioners. In case the petitioners have committed any offence, law will take its own course.
