The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.2 has performed marriage with petitioner No.1 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance. 2.

Mr. V.G. Jauhar, Sr. DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondents No.1 to 4.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that a representation dated 19.09.2018 (Annexure P-5) was made to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana seeking protection, but no PANKAJ BAWEJA 2018.09.21 16:24 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document [HIGH COURT, CHANDIGARH]

Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P-5) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.

Learned State Counsel is directed to ensure that the couple is shifted to protection home from the premises of this Court. In response, he has informed that ASI Sukhpal Singh (No. 130/Asr/R) is present in the Court who will take the couple to Protection Home, Ludhiana. Copy of order be given under the signatures of Bench Secretary of this Court.
