The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners, who are in live-in-relationship, at the hands of the private respondents and to take action on their representation dated 31.03.2026 (Annexure P-3). 2.

At the very outset, learned State counsel, who has advance notice of the petition, has submitted that the statements of the private respondents, from whom the petitioners are alleging threat to their life and liberty, have been recorded by the local police, wherein they have categorically stated that they have not extended any threat to the petitioners. Keeping in view the aforesaid facts but without going into the question of legality of the relationship of the petitioners, this petition is disposed of at this stage as no eminent threat is found to their life and liberty. However, in case they feel any threat to their life and liberty in future, they will be at liberty to approach respondent No. 4-SHO, Police Station Bahin, Palwal, who will assess the degree of threat to the petitioners and provide them adequate protection, if so required.
