The prayer in the present petition filed under Section 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of 'mandamus' directing the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner and for registering a criminal case against the private respondents for harassing, beating the petitioner for the sake of dowry and especially, on 03.12.2023 beating the petitioner while coming to her parental home. 1.1 A further prayer is also made for issuing direction to the official respondents to decide the complaint and representations (Annexures P-2 to P-4) moved by the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the State has submitted that the representation submitted to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Pathankot (respondent No. 2) has been received on 10.04.2024. The same will be enquired into and proper action, if required, will be taken within a period of 06 weeks from today.
