#$%%  ******* KARAMJIT SINGH, J.(Oral) Petitioners are praying for direction to respondents No.1 to 3 to provide protection to their life and liberty from the hands of private respondents No.4 to 7.

In the petition, it has been stated that both the petitioners are into live-in-relationship which has been opposed by private respondents No.4 to 7 who are related to petitioner No.1. 3.

Counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner No.1 a girl aged more than 18 years is into live-in-relationship with petitioner No.2 a boy aged about 21 years and both of them are unmarried. That the aforesaid live-in-relationship is against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 7, who are extending threats to cause harm to the petitioners and to this effect representation dated 28.04.2024(Annexure P-3) is already given by the petitioners to the police authorities but they failed to take any action in this regard.

Mr. Jasjeet Singh Dhaliwal, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 and submits that in case any such representation is pending, the concerned authority will look into the matter and take action in accordance with law, in a given time frame. 6.

In view of above, the present petition is hereby disposed of with direction to Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural), Amritsar to consider and decide representation dated 28.04.2024(Annexure P-3) in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.

However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the relationship of the petitioners. It is also made clear that respondents No.4 to 7 are at liberty to avail appropriate remedy available to them under law against the petitioners. In case the petitioners have committed any offence, law will take its own course.

Pending application(s), if any, also stands disposed of.
