The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners, who got married on 03.02.2024 (Annexure P-6) from the hands of respondents No.4 to 8.

Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner are major and had left their home on 27.11.2023 and went to Uttar Pardesh, subsequently, they got married on 03.02.2024 but now they are being threatened by respondents No.4 to 8 who are none other than the close relative of petitioner No.1.

Learned counsel for the petitioner could not demonstrate any threat perception apart from the bald averments and the representation Manju 2024.05.02 18:20 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

2024:PHHC:059658 CRWP No.3898 of 2024 allegedly sent through email to respondents No.2 and 3. In the representation also no specific incident of any threat was brought out and the same was only on apprehensions.

Learned State counsel pointed out that there is already an FIR against petitioner No.2 lodged on 27.11.2023 and the present petition is only to circumvent the process of law and create an alibi to restrain the authorities from proceedings in accordance with law.

In the absence of any threat perception coming forth, I do not find any merit in the present case, accordingly, the same stands dismissed. 6.

Needless to record that State is duty bound to protect the life and liberty of all its citizens.
