The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of Constitution of India is seeking directions to respondent No.2 to renew his passport.

The petitioner vide application dated 25.02.2021 applied for passport to RPO, Jalandhar and time and again, he was issued passport. The application of the petitioner is pending. The respondent has not issued passport forming an opinion that the petitioner, on the earlier occasion, has got passport with a different name.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner had secured passport with the same name though there was minor variation in the spelling.

Learned counsel for the respondents-passport authority, on being asked, submits that the competent authority would look into grievance of the petitioner and pass an appropriate order within 08 weeks from today.

Learned State counsel assures the Court that the police authorities would send their report within 04 weeks to passport authority. 6.

In the wake of statement of learned counsel for the parties, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the respondent-State to submit its report to passport authority within 04 weeks from today and passport authority shall pass an appropriate order within 4 weeks thereafter after granting opportunity of hearing to the petitioner.
