RAMENDRA JAIN, J. (ORAL) Through this petition under Section 439 Cr.P.C., prayer has been made for grant of regular bail to the petitioner, in case FIR No. 112 dated 18.05.2018, registered under Section 22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kotwali Bathinda, District Bathinda.

Proxy counsel for the petitioner prays for adjournment on the ground that arguing counsel is unwell. No justification. According to the prosecution, on 18.05.2018, 8560 tablets containing salt Alprazolam, 600 tablets of Fortadol-DM and 850 tablets of Clovidol-100 SR, were recovered from the conscious possession of the petitioner without any licence or permit.

Learned counsel inter alia contends that petitioner has falsely been implicated in the instant case. The petitioner is not involved RISHU KATARIA 2018.12.07 18:58 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRM-M-43058-2018 -2in any other case under the NDPS Act, except the present one. Petitioner is in custody since 18.05.2018, the date of registration of FIR. Conclusion of trial may take long time. No useful purpose would be served by detaining him behind bars.

On the other hand learned State counsel vehemently opposed the prayer for grant of regular bail to the petitioner. Having given thoughtful consideration to the rival submissions of both the sides, this Court is not inclined to grant regular bail to the petitioner, inasmuch, as the drug trafficking in this Northern region of the country has increased manifold in the recent past. Such type of crime has to be dealt with severe hands. Considering huge recovery of narcotic drugs i.e. 8560 tablets containing salt Alprazolam, 600 tables of Fortadol and 850 tablets of Clovidol-100 SR from the petitioner, he does not deserve concession of regular bail. Dismissed.
