**** HARSIMRAN SINGH SETHI , J. (ORAL) In the present writ petition, the grievance of the petitioners is that they were seniors to one Sh. Ved Pal in the cadre of Clerk. Sh. Ved Pal was promoted in preference to the petitioners as Senior Assistant by giving him the benefit of reservation.

Counsel for the petitioners states that petitioners had caught Sh.Ved Pal in the cadre of Senior Assistant when they were promoted starting from the year 2006 till 2009 as the case may be. As per the averments made in para 6 of the present writ petition, Sh. Ved Pal was further promoted as Superintendent by giving him the benefit of reservation on which post also the petitioners caught him before they retired.

Ved Pal as per the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel, Government of Punjab dated 14.03.2017 (Annexure P-1), which have been duly adopted by the respondent University vide resolution dated 23.12.2017 (Annexure P-2). Counsel for the petitioners further states that for the relief which has been sought in the present writ petition, the petitioners have served the respondents with a legal notice on 22.02.2019 (Annexure P-8), which is still pending consideration with the respondents and the petitioners will be satisfied, at this stage, in case a time bound direction is issued to the respondents to decide the said legal notice. In view of the request made, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case or the claim being made by the petitioners, the respondents are directed to decide the legal notice dated 22.02.2019 (Annexure P-8) by passing a speaking order within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order. Present writ petition stands disposed of.
