(ORAL) Case is taken up for hearing through video conferencing. This criminal writ petition has been filed under Articles 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of Habeas Corpus directing respondents No. 1 to 3 to get released detenue-Jaspreet Kaur, daughter of the petitioner, who is alleged to be in the illegal custody of respondent No. 4.

Vide order dated 07.7.2021, passed by this Court, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana-respondent No. 2 was directed to depute a Gazetted Police Officer to visit the house of respondent No. 4 and inquire as to whether the alleged detenue has been residing there with her own consent or has been detained by respondent No. 4 illegally or forcibly. A detailed report in this regard was ordered to be submitted and the case was adjourned to 29.7.2021.

On 29.7.2021, no one appeared on behalf of the petitioner and the case was adjourned for today i.e. 09.8.2021. Even today, no one has put in GURPREET SINGH 2021.08.10 15:32 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

In compliance of the order dated 07.7.2021, status report by way of affidavit of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Raikot, District Ludhiana (Rural) dated 26.7.2021 was filed. As per the status report, the police officials including a Lady Constable recorded the statement of alleged detenue-Jaspreet Kaur, which is attached as Annexure R-1/T. In her statement, detenue-Jaspreet Kaur has stated that on 02.7.2021, she had solemnized marriage with Satpal Singh of her own free will according to rites and rituals and has been happily residing with him in her matrimonial home. She further stated that she has not been forcibly detained by her husband and she had withdrawn the amount from her own account and false allegations were levelled by her mother and maternal grandparents.

Keeping in view the above, the present petition has become infructuous and is disposed of accordingly.
