By this petition, the petitioners seek protection of their lives and liberty at the hands of respondent no.3, with the allegation being that they are being harassed simply because some of their family members are alleged to have been involved in some criminal case (as per the allegation). Learned counsel submits that in respect of their grievances, the petitioners have made a representation on 29.06.2021 (copy Annexure P-2) to the SSP, Tarn Taran (respondent no.2) and that at this stage, they would be satisfied if this petition is disposed of with a direction given to the said respondent to decide their representation within a time frame.

Without making any comment on the actual merits of the case, this petition is disposed of with a direction to the SSP, Tarn Taran (respondent no.2), to go into the grievance of the petitioners and to also ensure that their lives and liberty are duly protected and that they are not harassed by the police unnecessarily on account of any misdoing by any of their family, if they themselves are not involved in any such misdoing; and if VIKAS CHANDER 2021.07.
