ARUN MONGA, J.(ORAL) The petitioners are, inter alia, seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the official respondents to protect their life and liberty from respondent No.5.

Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that petitioner No.1 is though aged about 16 years but both the petitioners have strong liking for each other. They wish to get married later in their life but meanwhile, father of petitioner No.1 (respondent No.5 herein) may forcibly marry petitioner no.1 elsewhere. Allegedly, due to his habits, respondent No.5 was divorced by mother of petitioner No.1. Respondent No.5 is even threatening to kill petitioner No.1.

In these circumstances, the petitioners also submitted representation dated 20.07.2020 (Annexure P-2) to the police authorities, but the same have not been adverted till date. Hence, this petition. 4.

Without commenting on the merits of the petition and the averments contained therein, the writ petition is disposed of with an observation that respondent No.2- Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, to whom representation Annexure P-2 was submitted, would go through the contents of the representation along with the contents of present writ petition, by treating the same as supplementary representation and ascertain/verify the threat perception of the petitioners, especially petitioner no.1, a minor girl. If deemed necessary appropriate, necessary steps then would be taken to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition stands disposed of.
