(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance.

Notice of motion.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Joginder Pal Ratra, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that both the petitioners are divorcee and has relied upon the judgments (Annexures P-6 & P-7), vide which first marriage of both the petitioners was anulled vide VISHNU 2018.10.09 17:52 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document High Court, Chandigarh

It is further submitted that a representation dated 05.10.2018 was made to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Police District Khanna, District Ludhiana (Annexure P-5) seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter. Heard.

Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Police District Khanna, District Ludhiana to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P-5) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.
