Present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution for issuance of a writ in the nature of Habeas Corpus directing respondents No.1 to 5 to get the detenue, namely, Mankirat Kaur released from the illegal custody of respondents No.6 to 10. 2.

Reply by way of affidavit of Sh. Daljit Singh Virk, PPS, DSP (Detective), Sangrur filed on behalf of respondents No.1, 2 & 4 is taken on record. Registry to tag the same at an appropriate place. 3.

In pursuance of order dated 08.04.2026, the detenue (Mankirat Kaur) has been produced before this Court. She admits that she has solemnized marriage with the petitioner on 15.01.2026, but she does not wish to continue with the said marriage.

On a pointed query, the detenue submits that she is residing with her parents voluntarily; there is no threat to her life and liberty and that she intends to stay with them.

In view of the above, it cannot be said that Mankirat Kaur has been illegally detained by respondents No.6 to 10. 6.

Thus, the petition stands disposed of as having been rendered infructuous.
