Mr. Nikunj Dhawan, Advocate for the petitioner. HARINDER SINGH SIDHU, J Petitioner, who is aged about 23 years, has filed this petition seeking a writ of Mandamus directing the official respondents to protect her life and liberty at the hands of respondent Nos.3 & 4 (her parents), respondent No.5 (her brother), respondent No.6 (her father-in-law) and respondent No.7 (her husband).
It is stated that the marriage of the petitioner was solemnized against her wishes with respondent No.7 about two years back. Since the date of her marriage, respondent Nos.6 & 7 harassed and tortured her on one pretext or the other. Petitioner received no support from respondent Nos.3 to 5, who wanted her to live with respondent No.7. Despite the petitioner having spent her days in torment, her parents threatened to eliminate her if she did not reconcile with her husband-respondent No.7. Left with no other option, the petitioner left her matrimonial home on 20.05.2022 and since then she is living of her own. She apprehends danger to her life from the private respondents.

CRWP No.5266 of 2022 #2# Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation on 25.05.2022 (P.2) to respondent No.2-SSP, SAS Nagar (Mohali) but no action has been taken thereon so far. Notice of motion.
Mr. B.S. Sewak, Addl.AG, Punjab has accepted notice on behalf of State of Punjab.
Without commenting upon the merits of the case or opining on the veracity of the allegations contained in the representation, this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to look into the grievance of the petitioner, as raised by her in the representation (P.2) and take appropriate action, in accordance with law.
