The prayer in the instant petition is to grant parole to the petitioner for a period of 8 weeks to enable him to meet his family members, as per Section 3(1)(d) of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners(Temporary Release)Act, 1962.

The petitioner is undergoing sentence of 15 years' rigorous imprisonment under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. His grouse is that despite his case for being released on parole recommended by Jail Superintendent vide report dated 22.04.2020(Annexure P-1) and concerned SHO vide report dated 09.06.2020(Annexure P-3), the same has not been decided so far by respondent No.3- District Magistrate, Amritsar. 3.

Without entering into the legality or validity of entitlement of the petitioner for being released on parole, the instant petition is disposed of SONU 2020.09.25 06:43 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

with a direction to respondent No.3 to decide the pending case of the petitioner for parole, in accordance with law, after considering the reports Annexure P-1 and P-3 submitted by Jail Superintendent and concerned SHO respectively, within a period of 30 days from receipt of a certified copy of this order.
