On 09.05.2024, this Court had passed the following order:- "Through the instant petition, prayer is for issuance of a mandamus upon respondent no.2, to take the petitioner for post surgery follow up at Max Hospital, Mohali.

Notice of motion.

Mr. Manish Bansal, PP, UT, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

He seeks time to file a medical status report of the present petitioner.

Adjourned to 17.05.2024.

In the meanwhile, respondent no.2-Jail Superintendent, Model Jail, Chandigarh, shall ensure that the petitioner is taken to the appropriate hospital for the post surgery follow up, and make available the proper medical treatment in the jail, and also ensure dietary precautions as prescribed by the doctor concerned. In compliance of the directions embodied in the hereinabove extracted order, the petitioner was taken to the Max Hospital, S.A.S. Nagar, on 14.05.2024, where he remained admitted till 16.05.2024 for treatment. A perusal of the discharge summary, as placed on record by the learned counsel for the respondent, reveals that at the time of discharging the petitioner on 16.05.2024, he was advised bed rest and soft fat free diet. Moreover, he was also advised to follow-up with Dr. Gurpreet Singh Babra, OPD, on 20.05.2024 or SOS in emergency.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that, apart from the follow-up examination on 20.05.2024, the petitioner also requires neurosurgical opinion.

Considering the medical condition of the petitioner, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the jail authority(ies) concerned to ensure that the advice mentioned in the discharge summary (supra) is complied with. The jail authority(ies) concerned shall ensure to take the petitioner for follow up examination on 20.05.2024, besides ensuring that he is provided adequate diet, in consonance with the doctor's advice. At the time of his visit to Max Hospital on 20.05.2024 or on any other date given by the Max Hospital, the petitioner shall also be got examined for a neurosurgical opinion. 5.
