The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to official respondents to restore its electricity connection which was disconnected on 13.04.2023 due to nonpayment of electricity bill. 2.

The petitioner is a proprietorship concern. It started its business in 2013. It suffered huge financial loss during COVID-19. In 2021, the Electricity Department found a sum of Rs.2,17,000/- outstanding against the petitioner. The respondent lodged FIR No.47 of 2023 under Sections 332, 353, 186, 506, 323, 34 IPC against the proprietor, his father and other employees. Trial is still pending. The respondent has informed under RTI that a sum of Rs.6,03,470/- is outstanding against it.

Ms. Jyotnoor Kaur Sethi, Advocate has filed Power of Attorney on behalf of respondent-PSPCL. The same is taken on record. Registry is directed to tag the same at an appropriate place. 4.

Learned counsel for the respondent at the outset submits that petitioner has approached this Court without approaching Circle/Zonal Dispute Settlement Committee. It has also remedy to approach Electricity Ombudsman.

In the wake of availability of alternative remedies, the petition stands disposed of with liberty to petitioner to approach Circle/Zonal Dispute Settlement Committee. The Court is sanguine that if petitioner approaches aforesaid Committee, its grievance would be redressed within period prescribed in the Regulations framed by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
