(ORAL) The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 for issuance of directions to the official respondents for protection of life and liberty of the petitioners and for restraining the private respondents No.4 and 5 from interfering in their peaceful life. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners inter alia contends that both the petitioners are major and copies of their Aadhaar cards are appended with the petition as Annexures P-1 and P-2, as proof of their age. It is further contended that the petitioners have got married on 06.04.2026 at Maa Naina Devi Jan Kalyan Sanstha (Regd.), M.D.C., Sector 4, Panchkula, Haryana. The attention of the Court is drawn to the certificate of marriage and photographs, RAJENDER KUMAR 2026.04.13 16:04 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order

CRWP-4160-2026 -2which are appended with the petition as Annexures P-3 and P-4 respectively. It is argued that the private respondents No.4 and 5 and other relatives are opposed to the marriage of petitioner No.1 with petitioner No.2 and thus, there is a serious threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners. It is contended that the petitioners have submitted a representation dated 07.04.2026 (Annexure P-5) to respondent No.2 seeking protection of their life and liberty and would be satisfied if at this stage a direction is given to the said respondent to decide the same in accordance with law.

Keeping in view the aforementioned facts and circumstances, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation dated 07.04.2026 (Annexure P-5) strictly in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures notified by the State of Punjab vide Notification dated 23.01.2025.

It is clarified that this Court has not commented upon the veracity of the averments made in the present petition, which will be ascertained by the concerned authority, in accordance with law. 5.

Disposed of in the aforesaid terms.
