The petitioners seek issuance of a direction to the official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents, having married against the wishes of their families.

At this stage, Mr. Rajeev Viz, Addl. P.P., U.T., Chandigarh, upon whom advance notice had already been served, has put in appearance on behalf of the respondent - State of U.T., Chandigarh.

Learned State counsel has informed that inquiries had been made by the police and statements of petitioner No.1 - Neha as well as of her parents have been recorded, wherein petitioner No.1 - Neha has categorically stated PANKAJ KAKKAR 2023.05.09 16:24 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document
CRWP-4473-2023 (O&M) ( 2 ) 2023:PHHC:066251 that she is presently residing with her parents and that her parents have agreed to accept the marriage and to perform the same as per their rites and ceremonies.

Faced with the aforestated position, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners may be permitted to withdraw the present petition with liberty to approach afresh in case they apprehend any threat to their lives and liberty at a later stage.

In view of the aforesaid submission, the instant petition is dismissed as withdrawn with liberty aforesaid.
