(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance. Notice of motion.

Mr. Joginder Pal Ratra, DAG, Punjab, who is appearing through video conferencing, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent - State.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that a representation dated 05.08.2020 was made to the Senior Superintendent of Police, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) (Annexure P5), seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter. Heard.

CRWP No.5737 of 2020 (O&M) Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P5) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.

The Senior Superintendent of Police, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) - respondent No.2 is further directed to convene a meeting between the petitioners and the parents of petitioner No.1, if so required. It is further directed that petitioner No.1 will submit the complete address of her parents along with the mobile phone numbers to enable respondent No.2, to comply with the directions.
