MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (ORAL) Prayer in the instant petition filed under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of directions to respondent No.2, to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of respondents No.4 to 9.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was in the U.S. when he received telephonic threats from numbers which are detailed in paragraph 3 of the petition. On his return to India, he again received threats, qua which the petitioner intimated the official respondents, however, instead of coming to his rescue, he was being harassed by respondent No.4, who had been time and again calling him to the Police Station and making him sit all day long. 3.

On a pointed query put to the learned counsel as to whether the petitioner is involved in any other criminal case or has criminal antecedents, he has replied in the negative.

In view of the restricted prayer of the learned counsel for the petitioner, the instant petition is disposed of with directions to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, to look into the representation dated 02.05.2024 (Annexure P-3) of the petitioner and take appropriate steps, if any required, in accordance with law.
