The petitioners through instant petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India are seeking direction to respondent No. 1 to 4 to stay construction activities relating to new Vehicular Underpass (VUP) at NH-44, KM 321.600 near Jassian, Jalandhar, Punjab, being executed under Contract Diary No. 198/1744. They are further seeking direction to constitute a High-level Independent Technical Inquiry Committee comprising road safety experts and independent engineers. They are also seeking (i) Direction to repair and restore the service road potholes between 321.100 and KM 321.600; the median grill/crash barrier in this stretch; street lighting between KM 321.100 & KM 321.600, and (ii) Direction to sanction and construct a Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at NH-44, KM 321.200 in time bound manner and provide safe pedestrian crossing for labourers and residents commuting between Bhoara and Jassian to Aman Nagar and Bhattia. The petitioners are residents of villages Jassian, Mundian Kalan and Basant Vihar (Haibowak Kalan), Ludhiana, Punjab who are directly aggrieved by the daily road safety crisis on NH-44. 3.
The prayers made by petitioners are general in nature and cannot be addressed by this Court while exercising writ jurisdiction under Article 226 of Constitution of India.

Disposed of with liberty to petitioners to avail any other alternative remedy as permissible by law 5.
