**** AVNEESH JHINGAN, J (Oral):

[1] The matter is taken up for hearing through video conference due to COVID-19 situation.

[2] This petition was filed for issuance of directions to the official respondents for protection of life and liberty of the petitioners from the private respondents arrayed in the petition. [3] As per the pleadings the petitioners had performed marriage against the wishes of their parents and there was a threat perception.

[4] On 20th July, 2021, following order was passed:- "The matter is taken up for hearing through video conference due to COVID-19 situation. Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3 PANKAJ BAWEJA 2021.07.30 15:17 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document HIGH COURT, CHANDIGARH

CRWP-6697-2021 -2only at this stage.

Ms. Monika Jalota, DAG, Punjab appearing on advance notice accepts the same and seeks time to have instructions. She further submits that she has not received copy of the petition.

Learned counsel for the petitioners undertakes to supply the same during the course of the day.

Put up on 30.7.2021.

In the meantime, the police officials not below the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police should record the statements of the petitioners. In case a request is made by the petitioners, they may be provided shelter in safe house till the next date."

[5] Learned State counsel has sent statements of the petitioners, brother and father of petitioner No.1 recorded by S. Hardeep Singh, D.S.P., Sub Division, Payal, print out of the same is taken on record. As per the statement recorded, there is no threat perception or requirement of police protection. [6] In view of statements filed, no cause of action survives for pursing the present petition.

[7] The petition is disposed of.
