***** ANUPINDER SINGH GREWAL , J. (Oral) The petitioner is seeking his release on emergency parole to enable him to attend his father, who is admitted in the hospital in ICU. 2.
Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has been convicted under Sections 302, 34, 506, 341 IPC and sentence to undergo life imprisonment. He has undergone actual sentence of 3 1⁄2 years and is not involved in any other criminal case. The father of the petitioner is admitted in a hospital in ICU.

Learned State counsel has filed short affidavit of Superintendent, Central Jail, Kapurthala, wherein it is stated that the case of the petitioner for release on parole for eight weeks was duly recommended but in view of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, the approval had been sought from the office of Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab. CRWP-4288-2024 - 2 - He, however, upon instructions from ASI Avtar Singh submits that the father of the petitioner is indeed admitted in hospital. He has furnished a certificate from the hospital, which is taken on record.

In view of the ill health of the father of the petitioner, who is suffering from a serious respiratory ailment, we deem it appropriate to release the petitioner on parole for a period of four weeks subject to his furnishing necessary surety bonds to the satisfaction of the competent authority and on expiry of four weeks, he shall surrender to the concerned jail.

At the time of release of the petitioner, SHO Police Station Lohian, District Jalandhar shall be informed. The petitioner shall furnish his mobile number to the SHO and keep his mobile location on during the period of parole.

Petition stands disposed of.
