(the aforesaid presence is being recorded through video conferencing since the proceedings are being conducted in Virtual Court) ***** GURVINDER SINGH GILL, J.(Oral) The petitioners claim that the services rendered by them as Special Police Officers (SPOs) is required to be treated as qualifying service for the purpose of pension especially in view of the law laid down in CWP No. 2371 of 2010 titled Harbans Lal Versus State of Punjab and in CWP No.9936 of 2017 titled Sukhjeet Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab and others.

It has been submitted that although the petitioners had made a represenation dated 26.2.2020 (Annexure P-10) before the Director General of Police, Punjab but no action has been taken thereupon till date. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards merits of the case, the PANKAJ KAKKAR 2020.08.18 14:23 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

( 2 ) CWP-11960-2020 (O&M) petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Director General of Police, Punjab to get the matter examined and to dispose of the representation dated 26.2.2020 (Annexure P-10) in accordance with law and in accordance with settled position while considering the law laid down in Harbans Lal's case (supra) and Sukhjeet Singh's case (supra).

The needful be done expeditiously preferably within a period of 3 months from today.
