The present petition has been filed for grant of regular bail to the petitioner in case FIR No. 66 dated 24.4.2006, registered under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereinafter referred to as "IPC") at Police Station Dasuya, District Hoshiarpur. 2.

As per the prosecution allegations, the accused had extorted a sum of ` 1,25,000/- from the complainant on the pretext of providing him a job in Fire Brigade. The petitioner was initially on bail but he absented from the proceedings on 19.9.2006 and did not appear despite proclamation and now he is in custody since 26.6.2014. Learned counsel for the petitioner further pleads that the compromise has taken place between the parties and even a sum of ` 70,000/- has been returned. This fact has not been disputed that the co-accused has been acquitted as a result of compromise.

Criminal Misc. No. M-6794 of 2015 The conclusion of the trial will take time. The offences are triable by the Magistrate First Class. The co-accused have been acquitted allegedly on the basis of compromise. Thus, further detention of the petitioner will not serve any purpose.

Consequently, the present petition is hereby allowed. Petitioner Jasbir Singh alias Mari is ordered to be released on regular bail on furnishing the personal/surety bonds to the satisfaction of the trial Court.
