The writ petitioner has filed the present writ petition under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of an appropriate writ, order or direction especially in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents to save the land of the writ petitioner from the hands of the private respondents.

The grievance of the writ petitioner is that the Gram Panchayat, Village Bajroor, Block Noorpur Bedi, District Rupnagar and the private respondent No. 8 to 18 are trying to utilize the land, which is in his possession, as a graveyard. The writ petitioner, in order to prima facie prove his possession, relies upon the jamabandi for the year 2017-2018 (Annexure P1).

As per the entry in the aforesaid jamabandi, the land is owned by the Gram Panchayat.

Civil Writ Petition No. 12068 of 2020 Essentially, the writ petitioner is praying for grant of injunction against respondent No. 7 to 18 i.e. Gram Panchayat and the private respondents.

In the considered opinion of this Court, the writ petitioner has more than one efficacious alternative remedy. Hence, the present writ petition is disposed of by relegating the writ petitioner to the alternative remedy, in accordance with law.
