(ORAL) The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent to issue him passport.

Mr. J.S.Jaidka, Advocate contends that petitioner applied for issuance of passport vide application dated 10.07.2020. He was embroiled in FIR No. 297 dated 25.11.2015, under Sections 279, 427, 304 of IPC, registered at Police Station Sohana, District Mohali. A period of eight years expired but police did not file either cancellation or otherwise report, thus, he filed CRM-M- 33502 of 2023 before this Court seeking setting aside of afore-stated FIR.

Mr. Karan Singh, Central Govt. Counsel for Union of India and Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab, who on advance notice are present in Court, accept notice and waive service.

Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab submits that police has prepared untraced report and it would be filed in due course. 6.

Faced with this, counsel for Union of India submits that competent authority would decide application of the petitioner within eight weeks from today.

Counsel for the petitioner agrees to the aforesaid arrangement. 8.
