Petitioner has prayed for quashing of FIR No. 62 dated 06.08.2014 registered against him under section 498-A/406 IPC at police station Begowal, District Kapurthala.
Learned counsel for the petitioner has argued that there is no truth in the allegations leveled against the petitioner. Thus, FIR deserves to be quashed.
I have heard learned counsel for the petitioner. It appears that a complaint was lodged by respondent no. 2 alleging that she got married to petitioner on 27.01.2013. Her parents had given sufficient dowry at the time of marriage. `15.00 lacs was spent thereon. After passage of some time, the accused started pestering the petitioner for bringing more dowry. She was also given physical beatings. On a complaint being made to the police, instant FIR was lodged. After registration of FIR, investigation ensued. Challan was ultimately presented against the petitioner in the competent court of jurisdiction. Only plea of the petitioner is that allegations against him are totally false.
