Present:

Mr. Hoshiar Singh, Advocate for the petitioner. HARINDER SINGH SIDHU, J The present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution seeking direction to the official respondents to provide protection to the lives and liberty of the petitioner at the hands of private respondent Nos.4 to 6.

It has been averred that the petitioner is major with her date of birth being 30.05.1998. Copy of Aadhar Card of the petitioner is annexed as Annexure P.1. It is stated that parents of the petitioner were bent upon to marry against her will. Having been harassed and tortured at the hands of private respondents for getting married with a person, who is drunkard, the petitioner left her parental house and joined the company of one Mandeep Singh. Now, the petitioner is living with said Mandeep Singh in a live- in relationship. Parents and other relatives of the petitioner are unhappy with this relationship, therefore, the petitioner apprehend danger to her lives at the hands of private respondents. In this regard, the petitioner have submitted representation dated 14.07.2021 (Annexure P-2) to respondent No.2 seeking protection of their lives and liberty at the hands of the private respondents.

CRWP No.6703 of 2021 #2# After hearing counsel for the petitioners and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case or the legal status of the relationship of the petitioner, the present petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to look into the said representation with regard to safeguarding life and liberty of the petitioner and take necessary action as may be necessary, in accordance with law.

It is clarified that this order is limited to protection of life and liberty of the petitioner.
