Prayer in this writ petition filed by the petitioner under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to pay interest as per the provisions of the Punjab General Provident Fund Rules on delayed deposit of amount of Provident Fund from the date the said amount was deducted every month from salary till the date of deposit/retirement and to release gratuity, leave encashment, provident fund along with interest, medical allowance and all other benefits and further to pay interest on delayed payment of retiral benefits @ 12% per annum, from the date of retirement till actual realization.

Learned counsel for the petitioner, at the very outset, confines his prayer for deciding legal notice dated 02.04.2024 (Annexure P-2). Mr. Rajesh Sehgal, Addl. A.G., Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 and 2 while Mr. Manu Loona, Advocate, has accepted notice on behalf of respondent No.3, and have no objection to the innocuous prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner. 5.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record of the case.

Without going into the merits of the case at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3, to decide legal notice dated 02.04.2024 (Annexure P-2), expeditiously submitted by the petitioner by passing a speaking order, preferably within a period of 03 months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
