(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance.
Notice of motion.
On asking of the Court, Mr. J.S. Toor, APP, U.T. Chandigarh accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that a representation dated 15.08.2020 was made to the Senior Superintendent of VISHNU 2020.08.19 15:51 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.
In virtual Court CRWP-6134-2020 -2Police, Chandigarh (Annexure P-5) seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter.
Heard.
Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh to look into grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P-5) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh is further directed to arrange a meeting of petitioner No.1 with her parents in case any such application is moved.
It is made clear that in case any FIR is registered against petitioner No.2, it will be open for the police authorities to take action, in accordance with law.
