JAISHREE THAKUR, J.(ORAL) This petition has been filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure with a limited prayer that proceedings under FIR No. 62 dated 14.07.2012, under Sections 406, 498-A, 420, 34 of the IPC, registered at Police Station Kanwan, District Pathankot be concluded in a time bound manner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the FIR in question was registered as far back as on 14.07.2012, however, very little progress has been made in the trial. Learned counsel for the petitioner draws attention of this Court to the various orders that have been passed over the past couple of years, which would reflect that unnecessary adjournments have been granted on account of the fact that personal appearance of the accused has been exempted on their application time and again. I have heard learned counsel for the petitioner. In view of the fact that very limited prayer is made for conclusion of the trial, this Court is of the opinion that unnecessary Satyawan 2017.12.20 12:12 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document High Court Chandigarh

CRM-M-48375-2017 -2adjournment have been granted to the accused in the case by allowing their exemption from personal appearance time and again. Keeping in view this fact that the matter is pending since the year 2012 and five years have since elapsed, the trial Court is directed to conclude the trial expeditiously, preferably within a period of one year.

With the above direction, the instant petition stands disposed of in limine.
