Prayer in this petition, filed under Section 482 of the BNSS, 2023 (earlier Section 438 Cr.P.C.), is for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner, who has been booked in a criminal case arising out of First Information Report, as detailed hereunder:- Name & age of Petitioner (s) FIR No.

On 07.03.2026, some incident took place in village, regarding which a secret informer informed police party that two groups in village were fighting with each other and, by firing gunshots and pelting bricks and stones, had created hooliganism and spread terror in village. Informer further disclosed that during said fight, Sarwan Singh @ Samo and Sikander Singh have suffered injuries.

In FIR, members of both groups were also named, details whereof are as under:- First Party/Group:- (i) Jagroop Singh alias Gujjar, (ii) Samir (petitioner herein) sons of Ashok Kumar, (iii) Ranjit Singh alias Gyani son of Jagir Singh, (iv) Akashdeep Singh alias Hawai son of Jagir Singh, (v) Gurinder Singh son of Satnam Singh, (vi) Akashdeep Singh alias Jhota son of Tarlok Singh, (vii) Akashdeep Singh alias Bhalander son of Dalbir Singh, (viii) Lovepreet Singh alias Love son of Raju Singh, (ix) Inderjit Singh son of Swaran Singh, (x) Sahil son of Gajju, and (xi) Lakhwinder Singh son of Sohan Singh, residents of Plasaur, along with 10-12 unknown persons.

Second Party/Group:- (i) Veeru son of Sarabjit Singh, (ii) Mapi son of Bittu, (iii) Joban son of Sarabjit Singh, and (iv) Prince son of Dari, residents of Plasaur, along with 10-12 unknown persons.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner - Samir Singh @ Sameer, is a young boy aged about 19/20 years and has not committed any offence. It is contended that without any fault on his part, he has been falsely implicated in present case. It is further argued that no specific role has been attributed to him in FIR. 5.

Upon advance notice, learned State counsel appears on behalf of respondent-State and submits that petitioner has specifically been named by victim/injured Sarwan Singh @ Sammo son of Baldev Singh, who stated

- 3 - that it was petitioner along with co-accused Jagroop Singh who fired upon them.

Considering nature and gravity of allegations, particularly of firing shots resulting in injuries to members of opposite side, this Court does not find any ground to exercise its discretionary jurisdiction for grant of anticipatory bail. Moreover, custodial interrogation of petitioner is necessary.

Accordingly, present petition is dismissed, being devoid of merit.

Concerned Investigating Officer is directed to proceed immediately in accordance with law.
