MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (ORAL) Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that despite FIR No.37 having been registered on 18.04.2023 under Sections 452, 323, 427, 149 of the IPC at Police Station Chamkaur Sahib, District Rupnagar, the official respondents had been sitting over the matter and had failed to carry out a fair and independent investigation. A prayer has, therefore, been made for issuance of directions to the official respondents to proceed in accordance with law in the aforementioned FIR.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the State.

Learned State counsel, on instructions, has submitted that proper investigation was carried out in the FIR in question, however, no substance was found in the allegations levelled, as a result of which now a cancellation report has been prepared, which was now pending approval before the S.S.P. concerned.
