(Oral) Petitioner No.1-Anu aged 18 years and petitioner No.2-Deepak aged 20 years and 8 months, have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 6. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that the petitioners are fond of each other and intend to marry but the respondents No.4 to 6 who are relatives of petitioner No.1 do not approve of such relationship and have been threatening to cause harm to them. It has been submitted that the petitioner No.

1 being scared, left her parental home so as to reside with petitioner No.2 in 'live-in' relationship and to ultimately marry him as and when petitioner No.2 attains marriageable age. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the veracity of the MOHAN SINGH 2021.07.

- 2 - CRWP-6851-2021 (O&M) averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Superintendent of Police, Panipat, to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 22.7.2021 (Annexure P-5) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is any genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 22.7.2021 be sent to Superintendent of Police, Panipat (respondent No.2), so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
