(ORAL) By way of this petition, the petitioner seeks the indulgence of this Court for the issuance of a direction to respondents No.2 and 3 to ensure the protection of her as well as her guardian's (her maternal grand mother's) lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 and 5, while averring that her (petitioner's) father has already expired and her mother has solemnized the second marriage and is living in her matrimonial home and she (petitioner) is living with her maternal grandmother. However, respondent No.4, her real paternal uncle and respondent No.5, his wife as well as respondent No.6, a member of the Gram Panchayat Bhambe Kalan, want to grab the land inherited by her after the death of her father and have been threatening her. It has also been mentioned in this petition that a representation (Annexure P-1) has already been moved to respondent No.2 in this regard.

Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 3 only. Ms. Samina Dhir, learned Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, who has joined the proceedings on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 in this case, in pursuance of the copies of this petition having been sent to the respondent-State in advance, accepts the notice on behalf of these respondents.

Heard.

Learned counsel for the petitioner restricts his prayer to the issuance of a direction to respondent No.2 to take appropriate action on the said representation of the petitioner, i.e. Annexure P-1. Learned State counsel has no objection for the same. Keeping in view the above-discussed limited prayer as made by learned counsel for the petitioner and without commenting or expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter in hand, respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Mansa, is hereby directed to look into the said representation of the petitioner (Annexure P-1) only to the extent of her threat perception qua her own as well as her maternal grandmother's lives and if it is found that they genuinely deserve the protection of their lives, then to take appropriate action in accordance with law.
