This is the third petition for grant of regular bail pending trial in a criminal case arising from FIR No. 52 dated 06.08.2018, registered under Section 15 of Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at Police Station Sadar Abohar, District Fazilka. Learned counsel appearing for the State of Punjab has submitted that the prosecution has already concluded its evidence and the case is now fixed for examination of the accused under Section 313 Cr.P.C. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that due to restricted functioning of the Courts on account of COVID-19 pandemic, the trial of the case is not progressing. She further contends that the petitioner and his coaccused are ready to appear through video conferencing and get their statements recorded. She further submits that the accused can get their defence evidence also recorded through video conferencing.
Criminal Misc. No. M- 26041 of 2020 Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, the learned trial Court is directed to fix a date of hearing for the aforesaid purpose and proceed with the trial.
With the observations made above, the present petition is disposed of.
